Whitewashed Perfection

This week came and went in the blink of an eye...
I now can more fully devote myself to my blog and I am SO excited about that.
After all the hardwork these past few weeks... I am ready to just let loose and take it easy. And of course look at lots and lots of blogs... This would be the perfect spot!

J.Crew Continues to Impress

I hope that when Jenna Lyons gets to her office everyday... at least one person bows down. J. Crew has done it again. This season their always chic yet classic swimwear is nothing short of "must have". There are so many styles to love, and so many different combinations, plus, these suits will last you easily 3 or 4 seasons. I love the ruffles and ruching, and the perfect lines that can make any body type look good...

I think this one is my favorite. The structured tops are so old school glamour!

Bold + Color = WOW Combinations!

Today, these stunning combinations of bold colors have captured my attention. It reminds me a little of this home  featured a couple of weeks ago.  Granted many of these rooms have dark walls which really make these brights stand out, but I think its just as accomplished with stark white (a la the blue and white below)!

there is a total 70's quality about this room, I adore it to the fullest. The gorgeous jewel tones, and... how could I not love this radiant pink!

This might actually be the most perfect shade of pink. For the kitchen that is...

...but seriously... they made you say wow right?

Wander Over Wednesday

and meet Ashlina. The sugary sweet and beautiful girl who leaves us swooning over her blog each and everyday with the beautiful images, and great interviews!

My dream office looks like...
I am loving the purple...

What I love most about my city: The palm trees + the ocean. Seeing the beauty brings me happiness!

What do you love most about your day? For me, the best part of my day is the mornings, when I wake up with my baby Sophie cuddling me and a huge cup of coffee. I like to get up early and spend time just relaxing around the house.

What is your favorite color palette? Everything about this photo I love!...

When I'm not blogging I am... Working at the gallery + thrift shopping.

What is your favorite space in your house? Right now, it is absolutely my patio... I am smitten!

Inspired by Nature

For a while now, the rustic woods, organic lines, and soft textures of Restoration Hardware have been inspiring my aspirations of what our next home will look like.  I'm not quite sure how I missed this great article in Lonny's 2nd issue about a Manhattan apartment designed by Brad Ford. Its absolutely breathtaking. Light and airy, yet cozy and chic, I thought it had to be somewhere out in a beautiful pasture in Provence, but, I was wrong, it is all in the middle of the city. I think next time I need to settle my excitement down a little bit, and look a little closer through my Lonny Lenses...

all the different textures are so yummy. you don't even realize the stark white walls!

I think this salt and pepper contraption would bring my cool factor up 100 points. There is just no outdoing it in my mind...

A Striped Obsession

Normally, I am really interested into a trend, will buy into it in some affordable way or another (like a pillow), and then my obsession is over. However, this particular item I just simply can't get over...
Many of you are probably long past it, but something about this rug speaks to me. I am convinced it works in every single room, and is something you can hang onto for a long time. Or possibly the fact that its affordable is so appealing ($279 at Ikea!).  The first time I saw the similar one in Nate Berkus' living room, I knew I had to have one someday...

it grounds neutrals...

and is stunning with color...

not to mention... black and white never goes out of style!

Heavenly Hallways

Hallways... we all have them, some of us aren't quite sure what to do with them, and after all, they are a fabulous piece of property in your home to do some decorating. I have been swooning after this growing hallways trend that is absolutely gorgeous. Sunlit and sparkling are the windows, these curtains give a really regal feel, don't you think? The way all the different fabrics add something different to all of these spaces creates stunning effects...

all of the textures and fabrics and color variations of the same shade has me drooling over this space...

Perfectly appointed little chandelier, and cute chairs!

This is so soft and lovely, the floors are gorgeous too!

Design Dilemma

I have a serious design dilemma on my hands... and I think you are just the group for a little direction.
As some of you have read here, M and I are moving north (all the way across the country) in less than 2 months. I have been scouring for the perfect place online (which has been hard, because I love to get a feel for something) and I have mostly been looking at newer construction with floor to ceiling windows right in the heart of the city. However, I just can't seem to find that perfect place.  I have always been enamored with the idea of a big open floor plan with kitchen, dining, and living room en masse...

but, under the direction of my mother to consider some other options, I have come across the most adorable little victorian (duplex) that really would also be a designers dream.  It has sparkly old windows, and little nooks ideal for a chaise lounge or two, and a garden for my little furbabies to frolick in. Not to mention the space that we would need and more, for less than what it costs to live in the city. But, the galley kitchen is awful. Something I swore up and down I could never live with again. I even have this same fork to hang on the wall and couldn't make it look like this...

I love love love to be in the kitchen cooking, people are drawn to kitchens...  but should I forgo the fact that its not my city loft with the perfect kitchen for the opportunity to create great spaces like these...

( the unit's living room even has some dark wood ceiling beams!)

I can imagine kicking myself every time I'm in the kitchen, but also every time I don't have a great workspace... what do you think? Have you been in this situation before, what did you choose, or think I should choose?

Lakeside Getaway

Our best friends are celebrating their wedding anniversary this weekend (congrats R+V!), and we were discussing the difference between a getaway at the beach, and one at the lake. Growing up in Minnesota, our getaways on the weekend were always to our lake cabin, and it got me thinking of how nice a little weekend at the lake might be...

the quiet to enjoy some lovely moments together

a simple little place just for two

fresh eggs and herbs for breakfast...

and the sweet smell of the pines whispering in the background.

Where would you like to getaway this weekend?

Wanting a Watermelon Room

This simple, fun, and perfectly punchy room has been on my mind with summer around the corner. It's so light filled and bright, and the color of pink borders being overly feminine and just right. I knew this room might be an easy re-creation, so hopefully those of you wanting to revamp a room in time for summer guests, this will give some inspiration!

These lovely shades of coraly-pink would all work for painting these furniture items. I love all of them, but I think I personally, would go for "lipstick"! For under a little more than $400, you can buy all the necessary furniture, and all you have to do is set aside an afternoon to paint it!

To finish the room off, and give it a little pizazz, I love these hammered metal lamps, or silver mercury glass lamps, HomeGoods has a wealth of options tight now. As for bedding, soft white pin-tuck from west elm is sweet, and organic. Finally, to add that extra punch, a soft apple green throw casually tossed on the bed! This one from Crate and Barrel is only $30!
